i absolutely love the work of local vancouver ceramist
gailan ngan. her work is stunning in its simplicity, with equal emphasis on form, function + beauty. gailan has been in the business for years, founding her own studio in 1997, after having apprenticed under her father, hornby island potter wayne ngan. the aesthetic of gailan's work is soft + dreamy, and her pieces are a delight to behold.
derek and i have a set of bowls [pictured above, centre] and they are just the most lovely smooth, creamy texture. my next ceramics splurge would be a stash of wobble cups [top], the perfect vessel for enjoying my afternoon tea...
