monthly goal meetup :: july

here we are again, with me feeling like another month has flown by without my even noticing. sometimes i stare at the calendar, and i feel totally baffled. is this just something that happens as one grows older or has kids? what's the deal? i know i'm not the only one who feels this way, but i definitely wish it would s l o w down. phew!
anyhow, with that in mind, i'm going to do things a little differently this month. i've noticed throughout june that i've had significantly less time to work, with my son home from school, and the sunshiny weather calling us outside most days. so rather than make myself feel slightly guilty about not meeting all my goals, i'm going to change it up for the rest of the summer, and set myself some general goals to think about over the next two months. I have a couple vacations planned this month and next where i will be completely unplugged for a week each time, so i really need to think about my summer as a time for regrouping and refining my vision, as well as spending ample time with my family.
and so, herewith, my goals for the summer.

1 - continue working [slowly!] on getting smidgebox designs' name out there! i am a little shy about promoting myself, so i'm going to work on an email or two and see how far i get. there are a couple things going on soon, i will share when it's time...

2 - work on my photography. i am going to accomplish this not just by shooting my products, but by using my camera every day and learning more about its capabilities. i will also brainstorm about staging ideas. i have a couple thoughts in mind, i just need to follow through with execution.

3 - work on some new lines + products for smidgebox designs. again, i have ample ideas, i just need a bit of time to work on this. i know that summer sales tend to be slow on etsy, so i will take advantage of that and work more on design + prototypes.

4 - follow through with registering my business. i know, i procrastinate.

5 - finish off those applications for the holiday craft fairs i'm interested in [there are 2 in particular]. start amassing stock for these fairs.

i think that will keep me more than busy throughout the summer. i will definitely check in again for the august goal meetup, but i won't be adding new goals or feeling bad if i haven't gotten everything done :) i am looking forward to living in the moment with my family a lot more this summer. there are just not enough weeks when i get to just let go and chill with the kiddos. so here we go!

as always, huge thanks to jena for getting this started!!

Yah for allowing yourself to enjoy and summer and live in the moment!

Great goals. You seem very determined and I know it'll all get done in due course.

Those sound like good goals to me - less structured and more "organic" but no less effective than specific "Goals-with-a-capitol-G." Best of luck - Lisa

Have fun with your camera! I only know the tiniest bit of what mine can actually do, so it's been really fun playing with it every day. Good luck in July!

I empathize with the challenge of running a biz while kids are out of school. It's a bigger juggling act than I had anticipated. I love your photography goal. It's one of the best time investments you can make and you can do it on the run. Enjoy your family this summer!

Terrific goals! I commend you for realizing what you can and cannot do. Speaking from experience it's hard to say it's ok when you don't accomplish something. So congrats, good luck, and enjoy the summer! But don't stay away from twitter too much, I'll miss saying hello!
