friday afternoon, tea party.

don't you think a friday afternoon is just perfect for a tea party? especially if you have sweet ceramics to serve your friends their cupcakes + tea.

ceramic love

the gorgeous, simple shapes and smooth texture of local vancouver ceramist aja billas' stoneware. i adore beautifully shaped, no-frills pottery. this is right up my alley.

somehow i hadn't seen aja's work before got craft this past weekend. not sure how i'd missed it, and also not sure why i didn't scoop some pieces up at the show. her website is under construction, but i can't wait for her shop to open. i will be the first in line.

:: this kicks off my 12 days of christmas wishlist posts on my blog. hope you pop in for more over the next couple weeks! ::

local focus :: gailan ngan

i absolutely love the work of local vancouver ceramist gailan ngan. her work is stunning in its simplicity, with equal emphasis on form, function + beauty. gailan has been in the business for years, founding her own studio in 1997, after having apprenticed under her father, hornby island potter wayne ngan. the aesthetic of gailan's work is soft + dreamy, and her pieces are a delight to behold.

derek and i have a set of bowls [pictured above, centre] and they are just the most lovely smooth, creamy texture. my next ceramics splurge would be a stash of wobble cups [top], the perfect vessel for enjoying my afternoon tea...
