winter colours

jan at poppytalk is hosting another winter colours week starting on monday. i am always so inspired by the photography that emerges during these seasonal flickr pools, and it got me thinking about the colours i've been seeing in nature recently. since starting my 365 project, i've been snapping a lot of flora, it is just something that draws my eye. these are just a few that i've taken this past couple of weeks.

snow. something we rarely see this early here in vancouver, softly falling from a crisp grey sky. winter is here.

snow white buntings

i'm feeling a little festive after yesterday's shop update. these buntings are inspiring me to make some of my own for the holidays. my friend adele reminded me of this tutorial, i think i see some fabric flowers in my future.

it's beginning to look a lot like...

there was a healthy dusting of snow on the local mountains this morning, which seems like a fitting day to bring the holidays to my shop + blog. i gave my headers a mini festive makeover, what do you think? i also got my stockings listed today, head on over to have a look!

it is decidedly cold here today, and i've got knits on my mind in an effort to keep warm. is there anything cuter than a baby wrapped in cozy hand-knit goodness? i think not.

the local ski hills got some much needed snow over the past week, so i took my son up skiing yesterday morning. it's the first time i've been up with him, as until now he's had lessons. it was pretty incredible to watch him rip down those hills. he absolutely loves it, and it was a joy to watch.

i haven't posted an etsy imagery in a long time. so today i thought i'd share a few items that make me think of the snowy wonderland i got to play in this weekend!

the bright spot

i'm looking for the bright spot today, nestled in my bleary surroundings.

i woke up this morning with the baby's terrible cold, which i'd managed to studiously avoid for the past 2.5 weeks. not good timing, i've got loads to do, and now all i'd like to do is sleep.

i took this picture in the small icelandic town of grindavik, not far from the fabulous blue lagoon. we weren't sure what that colourfully painted shack was for. no visible doors, just a bright spot in a bleak landscape.

perfectly suitable for today.

something about a leaf

we went for a walk in the woods last weekend, and i found myself strangely fascinated by dead leaves and foliage among the trees + branches. something about the way they were lying there, soaked through and breaking down, draped over a twig or another leaf. so i took some pictures.
