superhero

a superhero i am not. it seems i've taken a wee unscheduled blogging break here. my wheels are spinning! i've just been so busy with work + with the mom's life + with the kitchen reno. something had to give. i will be back, i promise.

thank yous on a rainy friday

fall has begun in earnest here in vancouver. the leaves are changing, the clouds are rolling in, and the rain has started falling. i don't mind the rain, myself. otherwise why would i live here? it's incessant rain that i don't like, so let's hope this showery weather only sticks around for a day or two...

i thought i'd take a few minutes to pop my head in here and say thanks to some lovely folks who have posted about my work recently. i wouldn't be doing what i'm doing if it weren't for the wonderful and supportive people in the community. the people who buy handmade, showcase indie artists, and support one another. so thank you!!

wonderful bridgett of perideau designs, who wrote about my new peek-a-boo naturals collection here. have you seen her delightful muslin bags? so so cute. and her latest project, personalized placemats. they are awesome! way to go, bridgett!

jan of poppytalk posted an adorable roundup of hallowe'en items from the poppytalk handmade marketplace last week. thanks for including my treat buckets! and, how stinking cute are those crocheted hats by sweetpeatoadtots? ridiculous.

saffron, marigolds. the weekly tote.

i have been lucky enough to have had two of my totes included in the etsy finds email + storque post in the past month {here + here}. both times, my shop has just gone nutso, so big thanks to etsy for the helping hand! the mod pink pretty has gone off to australia, while saffron, marigolds was shipped to winnipeg this week. {i had an especially hard time parting with the saffron, marigolds. it is lined with one of my all-time fave fabrics, of which i hardly have any left...}
thanks also to baby gadget for posting about my fabric buckets today. and another fan of that saffron tote, thanks to the apron thief for choosing it as one of your etsy daily finds this week!

and lastly, thanks to all of you, who have come by to read my blog, which has sadly been a little neglected these past couple weeks. i'm still working on getting into the swing of our fall routine. i'll be back here more often before you know it!

sightlines

if you've been reading my blog for a while, you'll know i love a good architectural sightline. acclaimed local architects + designers battersby howat have a portfolio of work that makes me swoon. divine staircases and sightlines to die for. i'll share more of their work again soon, i can't help myself. it is westcoast design at it's finest.

fall spice

cinnamon + cardamom + cloves. the scent of fall spice, so comforting.

{from top}

i've been wanting to try whimsy & spice goodies for months and months, and have heard nothing but raves. as they don't ship to canada {due to the perishable nature of their items} i've had to long for them from afar. well, we're headed to washington to visit family for thanksgiving, so i'm going to have some yummy treats sent there! finally, homemade marshmallows and to-die-for cookies, all for me. i mean, for us. to share.

shanna murray

artist - stylist - optimist. i love shanna murray's tagline, isn't it divine? i have always been an optimist, i just believe that things will work out in the end. i'm not saying i don't have thoughts of doubt, insecurity, and occasional hopelessness. who doesn't have those moments? but i do tend to look at the bright side over all. life just feels better that way.

anyhow, tangent aside, i just wanted to share the amazing wall decals by shanna murray. i know these have made the design blog rounds, but i've had decorating on my mind since our little one got into a big girl bed a couple weeks back. i want to finalize choices for her wall art. i've collected a couple of prints from etsy, and am on the hunt for a couple more. i will also be hanging julie morstad's alphabet cards, with baker's twine + mini clothes pegs. i feel like one of shanna's wall decals would be just right. i'm thinking this one, shown above, in charcoal. [her walls are palest greige, called dove wing]

though i also really love the sentiment here. i love you more than all the stars. isn't it true? sigh, so sweet. the garlands are awesome, too. i think it would be great to frame a whole wall of photos in these decals, like you see below. fun!

::::::

as an aside, i'm in the thick of the first week of kindergarten, getting used to a new, early routine and new activities. i've also volunteered to be assistant coach for said kindergartner's soccer team [i know, in all my 'spare' time]. between meetings + forms + practices on top of a more limited work schedule + starting holiday prep, i'm feeling a little swamped! i hope you understand my being a tad scarce in the parts. i promise to keep posting when i can, i am really missing the everyday...

also, i listed these hallowe'en cuties in my shop on monday. what do you think? who's your favourite spook? little o has staked his claim on frankenstein!

kindergarten

how did this happen so fast? surely i was just holding you in my arms a couple months ago, meeting you for the first time. my, how time flies.

my little kindergarten boy, so excited for everything fresh + new, so ready to soak up the world.

and so like your dad...i love this photo, perfectly in step!

someone else wanted to go to kindergarten, too. she missed you today, her favourite playmate + partner in crime. we all love you, little guy. go off into the big world, and find your place.

dissipate

this would definitely help to alleviate some of the stress i'm feeling these days. just for an hour or two. wouldn't it be incredible?

freaky friday

at least it will be, if i get these finished and listed on friday morning like i hope i will! after all, hallowe'en is just around the corner.

{edit :: freaky friday just isn't going to happen, life interfered a little ;) spooky saturday it is!}

slippers

again with the fall weather, i now realize i need some new slippers. the old navy specials i bought last year were comfy while they lasted, i suppose, but they sure didn't last long. and i wonder why...

anyhow, last night i was on a hunt for some new slippers, and my friend kristin at klt:works suggested the lovely la la shoes. i have swooned over the felt baby shoes many times before, and now i'm thinking this will be where i score myself some awesome handmade room shoes. now i just have to decide on colour + style. i love them all, it'll be a tough choice!

i've spent a good deal of time ogling the gorgeous flickr stream, too. so many goodies! i love these and these.

also, i am having to hold myself back from buying these for the baby. are you kidding me? for reals, how darned cute are these shoes? and these ballet flats? sheesh.

drizzle

a rainy labour day has put me right in the mood for fall. while i'm sure that we have a few more days of sun in store [vancouver in september is gorgeous. love it] i am definitely ready to pull out some autumn layers. i'm loving all these looks from j.crew. which is your fave? i think i need that lumiere ruffled cardigan up top. pretty + cozy + perfect.

a fall collection

this fleet of peek-a-boo naturals buckets will be making it's way into the shop tomorrow. let me tell you, i am so excited to have them ready to go. it's been a long time coming!

stay tuned, i'll be listing them throughout the day tomorrow...
