this is it! the culmination of The good, the bad + the ugly :: 12 days of christmas videos. i hope you've had some laughs and enjoyed a few moments over here and at lindy's blog. this is probably my favourite christmas song. i know it's cheesy and it doesn't please everyone, but i can't help it, it's just so darn good. enjoy!

as for my holidays, i closed up shop last friday, and that definitely had a calming effect on me. probably mostly subliminal, as the past several orders have been local word-of-mouth. i finished those up yesterday, now all i've got to finish are those last-minute gifts for the kids!
i still am not feeling all that christmassy, but maybe that's due to the buckets + buckets of rain that have been falling outside, along with unseasonably warm temperatures. can't mother nature help a girl out with some christmas spirit?

a calendar beauty

i'm quite sure that title doesn't really make sense. but that's what came to mind when i saw this post over on a GreatFull day. i absolutely love the illustrative downtown wall calendar by jen oaks. feminine + colourful + simply gorgeous. with ample space to write stuff on each day, which i love. while i like the simplicity of seeing just the numbered days, it doesn't always help me with my organization, as i can't jot down a birthday or an important date. this fits the bill, and looks so beautiful at the same time!

i always have the hardest time choosing a calendar. in lindsey's post, she mentions that some of her friends are doing a whole calendar wall! i may have to consider that option, there are so many lovelies out there.

one of the leisurely things i want to do during the holidays is catch up on reading my favourite blogs. and when i say catch up, i really mean it. there are a couple months' worth of archives i'm going to wade through on each and every one. i can't wait!

rain, rain, go away

i mean, come on. it's december 21, winter solstice, and here we are drenched in non-stop rain. the forecast calls for some sun + colder temps later in the week. i can only hope...

other than that, i have been working away like a busy little bee this past week, getting my last orders finished for local delivery. i'm closing my shop for the holidays today, a nice break, and will be back with new stock january 4th. i can't wait to have a fresh new year, and start it off with a bang!
next week, my son is taking his first ski lessons [fun!!] and i'll be working on one of these for my baby girl. i'm even going to attempt to find time to finish my son's quilt. i only started it 18 months ago [blush]. i'll try to share some pictures along the way. enjoy this ramp up to the holidays, i know i will!

alright, i know some of you may file this one away in the 'ugly' category, but i LOVE it! it's on my permanent christmastime mix. no, i don't mean i listen to it all year round, just that i bring it back year after year, in all it's 80's goodness. enjoy :)

all i want for christmas is...

here is my pick today for the good, the bad + the ugly 12 days of christmas videos. today's pick serves up a healthy dose of cheese, but i must say, it kind of gets me in the happy joyful holiday spirit. the big white flakes falling outside help, too, and it sure is beginning to feel like christmas in these parts.

this year, i'd love to find one of these, and perhaps one of these under my christmas tree. but truth be told, i'd be perfectly happy just to spend some quality quiet family time, something we've not had enough of these past few months.

phew for friday

this week has been next to non-existent for me, it feels like. i was super tired from got craft, having over-extended myself for weeks in preparation. [pics to come, this weekend!] then all week i've been working hard at some orders which are waiting to get out early next week. all this to get ready for christmas, which is coming faster than i'd like! i still have to get working on the gifts i've got slated for my own kids, for whom i make something each year, by hand, with love from mama. i promise to share those projects when they're ready, too.

i will be closing my shop from december 18 til january 3. i need a break from it for a short while, to regroup, renew, and enjoy my sweet family over the holidays. i have big plans for the new year, and i cannot wait to get started!

this is a picture i took from my front step last year, right around this time. what a difference! our first flakes just fell today, nothing of note, just a few flurries. last year, we had a good foot of snow all through december. and while i absolutely love the snow, i must say i'm glad it's holding off for now. i need a few more days in the clear.

december 9th! how did it happen? time has totally flown this season. i've been super busy with craft shows and shop orders, but have found some time to get in the christmas spirit, in particular, the music! my favourite holiday tunes range from sweet to sentimental to down right cheesy. to my delight, i have recently found my kindred christmas spirit, in my friend and fellow canadian etsy gal, Lindy.

Lindy and I decided to join forces this next couple of weeks to share with you our 12 days of christmas videos, including the good, the bad, and the ugly.
