flowers + a sunset

romantic. i love peonies, and must admit that they are part of the reason we chose june second for our wedding day. i absolutely love the delicate pink, the amazing scent, the large blooms. below is the bouquet i made for our wedding. i am sorry i haven't got a better picture handy, but i love it all the same. swoon.

who doesn't love a great sunset? living so close to the ocean, we are lucky to be treated to some amazing displays in our neck of the woods. i love the soft + subdued colours from our wedding sunset. nice, hey?

wedding day

one of the best parts of our wedding day is that we got to share it with our son. o was only two-and-a-half when we got married, and he was a total doll. except for the fact that he cried [wailed!] for a solid five minutes after the ceremony started. and this boy has quite a set of lungs, let me tell you.
it was sweet, actually, and helped me contain my tears with a good dose of laughter. he wasn't quiet until someone got smart and brought him some cookies.
these are just a couple more wedding pics, two of my very favourites. up top, the three of us are walking back down the aisle [gravel path?] to one of my fav old songs, the turtles 'happy together'. down below, our happy little family, married at last and missing just one member, who arrived a little over a year later.

happy anniversary, derek. here's to many more years of fun, and growing old together in love.

candy buffet + croquet

i mentioned a while back that i was going to start posting a few more personal things in this space, and this week seems like a good place to move on with that. being my anniversary tomorrow, i thought i'd share some pics from our wedding day.

we got married at vanier park in vancouver, on the only sunny day in june 07. it was gloriously hot, a picture perfect day. we were on the grass, by the water, with a view of the mountains and the city in the background. does it get any better? i think not.

:: that's me, enjoying a game of croquet with d and our little guy before the ceremony ::

our wedding was small, casual, low-key, and tons of fun. we started the afternoon with lawn games, accompanied by a buffet of snacks + candy
[i couldn't get married without candy. yum!] and casual drinks.

i am so glad we planned the day like that, as we really got the chance to hang out and enjoy some fun times with our friends + family before the ceremony. the day went by in such a hurry, i am so thankful to have had that time to relax and really enjoy it.
i'll be back tomorrow to share a few more pics of the wedding. i hope you'll pop in!
